Cont to inc on every alt row until there are 6 sts.
Rows 9, 11, and 13: Knit.
Row 10: K1, k2tog, k3 (5 sts).

Work a further 6 rows in st st, alternating black and gold every 2 rows.
Row 11: Slip first 4 black sts over 5th st, then k 5th st using M.
Break off yarn, leaving approx 20in (52cm) of gold for wings.
Wings
Using a darning needle, bring end of gold yarn through to RS at edge of a gold stripe. Using 2mm crochet hook make 5ch, then work 4ss into first 4ch. Pull yarn through rem st, thread end through darning needle and take to WS of work. Bring yarn up on opposite side of stripe and make a second wing in the same way. Fasten off.
