Using 3mm hook and C, place a slipknot (see page 142) on your hook. With the wire in your hand that holds your yarn, place the yarn under the wire and your hook over the wire, yarn over the hook and pull through your slipknot. Put your hook under the wire and yarn over, pull up and then put your hook over the wire, yarn over, pull through both loops on the hook. Continue until the full length of the wire has been covered. Generally, a crochet stitch is made by slipping the hook under the top two loops of a stitch. You can create a different effect by working into the back or front loop only (abbreviations: ‘blo’ and ‘flo’) of each stitch of one round or row… The illustration shows blo.

PUFF STITCH
The Fuchsia pattern (see page 64) and Snowdrop (see page 108) create a puff by drawing several loops together and then making a sl st to secure.
3   Rep twice into the same st. You will have 7 loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. Make a sl st to secure.
