Using 3.5mm (USE/4) hook and Cream, make 72ch.
Foundation row Miss 3 ch, 1htr into each ch st to end. 70 sts.
Next row 2 ch, 1htr into each st to end.
Rep last row, working even in stripe patt, until work measures 6in (15cm). Fasten off.
Darn in loose yarn ends. Press lightly.
Sew up rear seam of hat. Sew top seam of hat.
Edging
Foundation rnd Using Navy and with RS facing, join yarn to lower edge of hat, 1ch, work a rnd of dc evenly around edge, ss to 1ch to join rnd.
Rows 1–5 1ch, 1dc into each st, ss to 1ch to join rnd.
Fasten off and darn in yarn ends. Fold hat tips together and sew. Place button on join and sew firmly in place.
